Raad Gallery is the newest gallery to open in the historic
rural hamlet of Oak Hill, located in Greene County, New
York. The Gallery is located on Route 81, approximately 2
hours north of New York City.
The Gallery is a collection of antique prints, contemporary
paintings and new and old books of all subjects, housed
in the historic 1890's Ford Store, which was formerly a
general store for the hamlet and is now on the National
Register of Historic Places.
Raad Gallery was started by Fari Raad, formerly of Cape
Town, South Africa. Most of the prints and paintings in the
Gallery are from Fari's 30-year collection from South
Africa, Wales and the U.S.
Fari is proud to say that he has framed all the prints at his
home workshop. The moulding for the frames is from
wood that was cut from trees on his property in Greene
County, air dried, planed and shaped. Stains and paints
for the mouldings were even purchased from the local
hardware store!
